Artist's Comments

FULL VIEW PLEASE!!!

Well, this is my entry for Saimain's contest [link] First off there is so much more I wanted to do with this drawing, but alas the deadline has caught up to me once again. I will go back and add more detail later :)

I went for a bit of a different approach on this one and wanted to reflect how the forest brought Faeren back to life, while at the same time bringing him back it also revived the life that for so long had lain dormant in the forest itself.

I'm not sure if it was just me, since I am extremely new to ditigal art, but this took a long, long time to complete. This is only the ninth or so drawing I've colored with Photoshop and I can't imagine how long it takes some of you amazing artists out there to finish one piece of art.

Please do not take this image or use the character in any of your art unless permitted to do so. This character belongs to Adele Lorienne, all rights belong to her!!

I hope you guys enjoy this!!! It was tremendous fun and I learned so much from painting it.

Good Luck to everyone who entered!!! They look amazing!

EDIT: Wow, I am in utter shock!! I was honored to have made it into the top fifteen, then to place fourth, I'm very surprised and flattered. Congratulations to Xiaocaca [link] Dianae [link] Emmil [link] and Gravik [link] Your entries are astonishing and each one of you shine as exceptional artist. Contrats to all who entered!! It was a wonderful contest full of many talented artists.

Oh wow, I can see why this took you so long to complete! o__O The paintwork on all those vines and roots is beautiful, and I love the lighting. Very haunting and inspiring image...you're the very first to attempt this concept! I really applaud you for that, you pulled it off wonderfully. The muted tones set against the vivid light and colors bring out the emotion and suspense...you're just waiting for Faeren to take his first breath and the forest to flood with life and color again.
Gah, yes, digital work takes a lot of time and practice to master, but you're well on your way! :) *hugs* Thank you so much for sharing your vision and participating in the contest! I really appreciate the time and work you put into this, and wish you the very best of luck!

You have truly progressed. You should be very proud.
( But um..., where's his right arm?)

Other than that, I think you've learned a great deal. Don't ever stop learning, but be sure to be proud of your accomplishments too.

May you have the best of luck in your future. :)

Oh, his arms is there I promise! You just can't see it.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I am happy with the results. I really am, I just wish I hadn't run out of time. There was suppose to be some more detail in the drawing, but I didn't get to it.

Thank you very much for the comment!!

This is very beautiful, especially the expression and composition! I really love it, I think that the colours could have interacted a bit more, otherwise it's very lovely and emotional!
Good luck in the contest

Yes, I agree on the colors. I wanted to add more glow and shadow, but I rushed certain parts of it and ran out of time anyway :(

Thank you so very much for the comment!! I wish you the best of luck to!
